(JUBA) – The European Union has allocated 1.5 million euros to support reproductive health and gender based violence services for vulnerable women and girls in South Sudan, with around 350,000 people expected to benefit across four states.
The funding, to be managed by the United Nations Population Fund, will provide essential reproductive health supplies, including emergency kits and dignity kits, to health facilities and centres assisting survivors of gender based violence.
The initiative will target communities in Jonglei, Unity, Upper Nile and Western Equatoria states, according to a statement.
UNFPA South Sudan said the support comes as conflict, displacement, flooding and disease outbreaks continue to disrupt access to basic health services across large parts of the country.
The project, which will run through September 2027, aims to strengthen emergency healthcare for women and girls and expand access to lifesaving services in some of the country’s most vulnerable areas.
