(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Authorities in Yei River County have launched a new monthly county-wide cleaning campaign aimed at improving environmental sanitation and public health.
County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo, announced the initiative on Monday, saying the exercise will begin on Friday, 7 August 2026 and will be conducted every month across the county.
According to the Commissioner, the campaign will involve all residents of Yei River County, including school learners, public and private sector employees, business owners and community members.
Hon. Malimbo said the initiative is intended to foster a sense of collective responsibility among citizens in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He called on residents to actively participate in the exercise, stressing that cleanliness is essential for preventing disease outbreaks and enhancing the overall wellbeing of communities.
The county leadership believes that regular clean-up activities will help improve sanitation standards, create a healthier living environment, and strengthen community cooperation in keeping Yei clean.
Residents are expected to take part in the first county-wide cleaning exercise scheduled for Friday this week.
