(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A new electoral committee has on Tuesday officially taken over leadership responsibilities from the outgoing team of the Yei Boda-Boda Association following a handover ceremony held at the Yei Youth Office. The transition marks a significant step in strengthening the association’s governance as it prepares for upcoming elections.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Director of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Clement, confirmed that the handover process was successfully completed and called on boda-boda riders to support the new leadership.
“Today marks the official handover of documents and responsibilities to the new electoral committee chosen by the leaders of the Yei Boda-Boda Association,” he said. “The process has been conducted successfully under the leadership of the newly elected chairperson, Azaria Khemis.”
Mr. Clement emphasized the importance of unity and active participation among riders, urging them to cooperate with the incoming committee and attend meetings when required. He noted that collective engagement would be key to ensuring transparent and credible elections.
“I urge all boda-boda riders to remain committed to the electoral process and to work closely with the new leadership. Cooperation and attendance at meetings will be essential as we move forward,” he added.
Outgoing committee representative Gaga Frank congratulated the new team and encouraged them to fulfill their responsibilities diligently. He further pledged the outgoing committee’s support to ensure a smooth transition and successful electoral process.
“I would like to congratulate the new committee for taking on this important responsibility,” Frank said. “We pledge our full cooperation wherever necessary so that, in the end, the boda-boda elections are conducted successfully.”
Meanwhile, the newly appointed electoral chairperson, Azaria Khemis, expressed gratitude to the authorities for entrusting his team with the role. He also acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing committee and appealed for collaboration among members.
“As the new electoral committee, we are ready to begin our work,” Khemis said. “We call for cooperation from all riders. Leadership is a shared responsibility, and it is important that we support one another regardless of who is in office at any given time.”
He emphasized the need for unity within the association, noting that leadership roles are temporary and aimed at serving the broader interests of the boda-boda community.
The outgoing committee, which previously oversaw the association’s electoral processes, formally handed over all relevant documents and duties to the new team. The incoming committee is now tasked with organizing and managing the next phase of elections, with expectations of promoting transparency and accountability.
The leadership transition is seen as a critical move toward strengthening the association and improving coordination among boda-boda riders in Yei.
