
South Sudan Joins India for Republic Day/PHOTO CREDITS: Indian Embassy in Juba
(JUBA) – The Embassy of India in Juba hosted a reception on 26 January 2026 to celebrate the 77th Republic Day of India, drawing South Sudanese officials, diplomats, international representatives and the Indian diaspora.
The Guest of Honour, Minister of General Education and Instruction Kuyok Abol Kuyok, joined members of parliament, senior government officials, ambassadors, UN representatives, media personnel and friends of India for the event.
In his address, the Indian Ambassador emphasised growing bilateral relations, strong friendship, and the historical ties that unite India and South Sudan.
Minister Kuyok praised India as a supportive partner, noting its contributions to human resource development, capacity building and peace-building initiatives across South Sudan.
The reception included a cultural performance by South Sudanese artists. The group is scheduled to travel to India to represent South Sudan at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
The event reflected the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or The World is One Family, celebrating democracy, partnership and a shared commitment to growth and prosperity.
