Speaking during the official swearing-in ceremony at State House in Juba, President Kiir directed the new army chief to transform the SSPDF into a professional, modern, and accountable national force.
He stressed the need to remove so called “ghost names” from the army payroll, referring to non existent soldiers who continue to draw salaries.
The President outlined five top priorities for General Dau:
+Remove ghost names from the payroll
+Ensure regular food and fuel supplies for troops
+Strengthen unity and discipline within the SSPDF
+Promote cooperation with regional and international military partners
+Focus on leadership development across the ranks
In response, General Dau promised to lead with integrity and serve the nation with loyalty. He pledged to uphold the Constitution of South Sudan and protect its sovereignty.
“I will serve this country with full commitment, guided by discipline, professionalism, and the rule of law,” said General Dau.
