(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on government officials and institutions to work together as one team in delivering services to the people, as South Sudan moves closer to national elections expected in December this year.
The President made the remarks on Friday during the swearing in ceremony of newly appointed cabinet ministers at State House in Juba. The officials represent the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement In Opposition and were formally inducted into office in the presence of senior government figures.
President Kiir urged the new ministers to promote cooperation among government institutions, stressing that unity and coordination are essential for effective service delivery and national development. He said government agencies must work closely together to respond to the needs of citizens and to strengthen public confidence in state institutions.
The President noted that the period ahead required collective effort, particularly as the country prepares for elections. He encouraged the new ministers to focus on their responsibilities and to support stability and peace through their work in government.
Those sworn into office include Lasuba Ludoru Wongo as Minister of Mining, Agok Makur Kur as Minister of Energy and Dams, Pur Solomon Gok as Minister of Federal Affairs, and Nuna Rudolf Bidivu as Minister of Gender and Social Welfare.
In their remarks following the ceremony, the newly appointed ministers expressed readiness to work with other government institutions. They said they were committed to supporting the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement and to working towards meeting the expectations of the people of South Sudan.
The ministers emphasised the importance of cooperation across ministries and agencies, noting that joint action was necessary to address national priorities and strengthen governance.
The swearing in ceremony comes at a time when the government is under pressure to demonstrate progress on peace, reforms and service delivery.
