(JUBA) – The Lebanese Community in South Sudan, led by Consul Ali Myree, congratulated Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on his re-appointment and discussed ways to work together to support the region’s development.
Consul Myree said the community wants to build stronger ties with the government and explore opportunities to boost economic growth in Central Equatoria State.
Governor Adil welcomed the gesture, noting that collaboration in trade and investment would benefit both the government and the business community.
The meeting also addressed the impact of the recent fire at Custom Market. The Lebanese Community expressed sympathy and solidarity with traders, particularly members of their community affected by the incident.
Governor Adil highlighted the importance of supporting all businesses as part of efforts to strengthen the local economy and promote recovery from emergencies.
He encouraged partnerships that could enhance trade, attract investment, and provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Consul Myree and the Governor discussed potential areas of collaboration, including initiatives to support small and medium-sized businesses, create employment opportunities and improve commercial infrastructure in the state.
The Lebanese Community in South Sudan has a long history of involvement in commerce, and the discussions reflected a shared interest in ensuring stability and growth in Central Equatoria.
Trade and investment officials present at the meeting emphasised the need for dialogue and coordination between foreign business communities and state authorities to address challenges, including risks from unforeseen events such as market fires.
