(JUBA) – A training workshop on aviation security and information technology has opened at Juba International Airport, aimed at protecting airport systems and improving safety standards.
The course brings together airport security staff, IT professionals and other airport stakeholders. It is taking place at the Airport Plaza in Juba.
South Sudan Aviation Authority said in a press release the training will give participants practical skills to deal with new security threats, guard vital airport information systems and build better teamwork between security and IT units.
Key topics include aviation security principles, access control systems, cybersecurity awareness, network security, incident response and surveillance technologies. The programme also covers how to blend modern IT tools into daily airport security work.
Airport management told participants that growing a highly skilled workforce is central to keeping the airport safe, secure and ready to meet international standards. They said ongoing professional development is needed in a changing aviation industry.
According to the Aviation Authority, the workshop forms part of wider efforts to strengthen aviation safety and security at South Sudan’s main airport.
It also supports the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority’s goal of building a modern and secure aviation sector.
Juba International Airport thanked all facilitators, participants and partners who made the training possible. An official statement said the knowledge gained will help improve the airport’s security posture and service delivery.
