(JUBA) – The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has issued a public notice restricting access to the airside area of Juba International Airport (JIA). The move aims to strengthen aviation safety and security at the country’s busiest airport.
According to the notice, no individual or vehicle may enter the airside without valid authorisation and an official SSCAA-issued permit.
This includes, but is not limited to, the Airside Vehicle Permit (AVP) and the Airport Restricted Area Permit (ARO). Other permits approved by the authority are also required for lawful access.
The restrictions are comprehensive, applying to all personnel and vehicles. Exceptions are made only for the President of the Republic of South Sudan, the Vice Presidents, and their officially designated vehicles.
The SSCAA warned that any unauthorised access will be treated as a serious breach of aviation safety and security regulations. Offenders will face legal action under South Sudan’s aviation laws. The authority called on the public to cooperate with airport security measures to ensure safe and orderly operations.
The notice, signed by the Director General of SSCAA on 8 January 2026, was copied to key agencies, including Aviation Security (AVSEC), the National Security Service, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Military Intelligence at JIA.
