(JUBA COUNTY) – The Ministry of Housing, Land and Public Utilities in Central Equatoria State has launched the opening of roads in Yaro village, in what officials described as an important step in rural development and land planning around Juba.
Speaking at the event on Monday, 16 February 2026, the State Minister for Housing, Hon. David Morbe Aquilino, congratulated the Yaro community for working with the government to demarcate the village. He said proper land demarcation would help ease congestion in Juba city while improving access to services and road networks in surrounding rural areas.
The minister said the opening of roads and the clear marking of plots remain a priority in line with the directives of Central Equatoria State Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani. He added that organised settlement would support planned growth as Juba continues to expand.
The Commissioner of Juba County, Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, praised the Yaro community for allocating land for structured planning. He urged other communities across the county to follow the same approach.
He said government priorities in newly planned areas include schools, hospitals, police stations, football grounds and local government offices to ensure balanced development.
The Director of Luri Payam, Mr Ezbon Pitia, cautioned residents against acquiring land for speculative purposes. He called on communities to focus on settlement and long term development rather than short term financial gain.
Officials described Yaro as an example of cooperation between local communities and government institutions in support of organised land use and improved service delivery in Central Equatoria State.
Access Radio 88.8 FM understands that the state government plans to continue similar road opening and land demarcation activities in other parts of Juba County as part of broader efforts to manage urban growth and support rural settlement.
