(JUBA COUNTY, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – The Central Equatoria State Security Committee has pledged to resolve the increasing incidents of land grabbing in Juba, calling for public calm as authorities implement measures to address the issue.
The committee, chaired by Central Equatoria State Governor Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, outlined its plans during a weekly meeting on Tuesday. Officials emphasised that illegal land seizures, including those involving government personnel, will be met with legal action.
State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency, Leon Abe Brown, warned citizens against vigilante actions, noting a surge in unauthorised land occupations. He confirmed that some constitutional officeholders were implicated in the illegal acquisitions.
“We have seen individuals disrupting lawful land allocations by the Ministry of Housing, Land and Public Utilities. Some of these violators are government officials,” said Brown.
He urged residents to allow the government to handle the matter through legal channels, assuring that perpetrators would be held accountable.
Additionally, the committee addressed security concerns, citing activities by holdout groups in parts of the state. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to restoring stability across Central Equatoria.
