(JUBA) – The Ministry of Health of the Republic of South Sudan, in collaboration with UNICEF South Sudan and the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS), has announced the top four proposals selected for the South Sudan Health Media Fellowship under the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP), Phase I.
The selection follows what organisers described as an overwhelming number of high quality applications from across the country. The review panel assessed all submissions against the fellowship’s thematic priorities, identifying the proposals that demonstrated the greatest innovation, depth and commitment to improving public health reporting in South Sudan.
The four successful applicants will now begin producing in-depth health stories designed to strengthen community awareness and contribute to the ongoing transformation of the health sector. Their work will focus on critical health challenges, successes and solutions within the country.
Officials said the fellowship aims to equip journalists with the skills and resources necessary to highlight pressing health issues, giving communities access to accurate information and encouraging public engagement in health matters.
A statement from the Ministry of Health congratulated the selected fellows, noting that their reporting will “inspire change and help drive forward the Health Sector Transformation Project’s objectives.”
The initiative is part of efforts to support evidence based journalism and ensure health communication is both credible and accessible.
