CES Governor Assures Kajo-Keji Residents of Improved Services and Development

(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has assured residents of Kajo-Keji County of his government’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and advancing key development initiatives.

Speaking during a public rally held on Saturday at Mere Freedom Square, Governor Adil commended County Commissioner Wani Jackson Mule and security forces under Brig. Gen. Henry Buri for improving security in the area. He urged residents to continue cooperating with local authorities to sustain stability.

The Governor noted ongoing efforts by the State Government in collaboration with the National Government to initiate the Juba–Kajo-Keji road project. He further emphasised the importance of community participation in maintaining the road, including addressing major potholes, to strengthen connectivity between Juba and the agriculturally rich county.

Addressing infrastructure concerns, Governor Adil acknowledged community appeals for the rehabilitation of Gore and Lubajo bridges. He assured residents that the Ministry of Roads and Bridges would prioritise their repair to improve access and mobility.

On healthcare, the Governor pledged that the State Government would support the continued operation of Kajo-Keji Civil Hospital after Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hands over management of the facility.

Governor Adil also encouraged a shift from subsistence to market-oriented farming, calling on youth and women to form cooperative groups to benefit from government support. He directed county authorities to locate two tractors previously allocated to the area and deploy them to boost agricultural production.

In the education sector, the Governor announced plans to renovate schools, including Kajo-Keji (Gore) Secondary School. He added that an assessment team from the Ministry of General Education will be deployed to address delays in teachers’ salaries and provide training for volunteer and existing teachers.

Delivering a message from President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Governor Adil urged residents to uphold peace, unity and coexistence.

County Commissioner Wani Jackson Mule highlighted achievements made over the past year, including reduced illegal logging, increased school enrolment following the introduction of free education, and the removal of roaming cattle. He appealed for continued state support to consolidate gains in peace and stability.

Members of Parliament representing Kajo-Keji at both national and state levels called for stricter legislation to curb illegal exploitation of natural resources. They also encouraged displaced residents to return home and actively participate in the upcoming December elections.

On behalf of the community, Kajo-Keji Community Chairperson Hon. Aggrey Tisa Sabuni outlined key priorities, including improved healthcare, rehabilitation of the Juba–Kajo-Keji road, and urgent repairs to Lubajo and Gore bridges, alongside sustained security. He thanked the Governor for his continued engagement with the county.

The Governor was accompanied by cabinet ministers, lawmakers, security officials, and members of the SPLM State Secretariat. The rally attracted hundreds of residents, including traditional leaders, women, youth groups, and cultural performers.

Community members expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace, supporting development efforts, and encouraging the voluntary return of displaced persons to rebuild Kajo-Keji ahead of the elections.
