(JUBA) – The Governor of Western Equatoria State, James Al-Taib Berapai, has paid a courtesy visit to Central Equatoria State Governor, Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, in Juba to discuss cooperation between the neighbouring states.
The meeting took place on Tuesday at the Central Equatoria State Secretariat, where the two leaders explored ways to strengthen peace, stability and development across their regions. Governor Al-Taib was accompanied by his deputy, Joseph Marona.
Governor Mujung congratulated the new leadership of Western Equatoria on earning the confidence of the President, noting that such recognition comes with great responsibility. He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to work more closely with Western Equatoria in addressing shared challenges and opportunities.
The two governors agreed to collaborate on areas that promote social harmony, economic growth and mutual development. Both leaders emphasised that stability in one state directly benefits the other, given their close social and cultural ties as well as shared borders.
Officials said the visit demonstrated the importance of inter-state dialogue in South Sudan, especially as the country continues to face economic and security pressures. Strengthened relations between states, they added, could support wider efforts for national peace and development.
According to the State Press Unit, the discussions are expected to pave the way for joint initiatives in key sectors such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure and social services, which are critical to the wellbeing of people in both Central Equatoria and Western Equatoria.
