(YEI / LAINYA / MOROBO / KAJO KEJI) – Residents across the greater Yei region have welcomed the return of Emmanuel Adil Anthony as governor of Central Equatoria State, following his re-appointment on Monday.
Many community members say they hope his renewed mandate will bring better services, improved security and faster development in the six counties of the state.
Taban Peter, a resident of Lainya County, said people in the area are pleased with President Salva Kiir’s decision to retain Adil. He said the governor is expected to focus on providing basic services and addressing long standing needs.
He said many residents want the main road connecting Juba, Lainya, Yei and Morobo to be repaired, along with improvements in health and education, which he described as major pillars for social and economic progress.

In Yei River County, Moses Karaba welcomed the news and urged the governor to prioritise security, road repairs and planned development work within the town and its five Payams.
He said peace and the protection of civilians remain the most important issues for families in the county:
“Our top priority in Yei is peace and security, protection of civilians and their properties, repair of poor road networks and plans for urban development programs in Yei town and the Five Payams of the county.”
In Morobo County, Aligo Tito said people there have also received the news positively. He added that peaceful co existence remains a key demand of many communities.
“We demand the governor to ensure that there is stable security in Morobo County,” he said. “We also want medical services here, people want clean drinking water, better roads and peaceful co existence in the county.”
From Kajo Keji County, Iyani Robert Duku thanked the president for reinstating Adil and said local people expect the governor to strengthen peace efforts and improve service delivery.
He said residents want schools and health centres reopened and repaired, alongside the rehabilitation of the Kajo Keji to Juba road and the routes linking Kajo Keji with Morobo and Yei.
“The people of Kajo Keji County are happy with the appointment of the governor and what we want here is security, rehabilitation of schools, health centres, rehabilitation of Kajo Keji Juba road Kajo Keji Morobo Yei road and development projects for the people of Kajo Keji County,” he said.
