(KAJO-KEJI ) — The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, on Friday officially launched the construction of a new Kajo-Keji County headquarters, marking a significant step towards improving governance and public service delivery in the area.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Kajo-Keji County Commissioner Jackson Wani Mule said the new facility is intended to serve as a centralised administrative hub, bringing together all government departments and security units under one roof to enhance coordination and efficiency.
“This site will host all government offices, including security units,” Mule said. “I would like to thank the community landlords, elders, the paramount chief, and local chiefs for generously providing the land. This is a historic day as we begin the gradual transfer of the county headquarters to this new location.”
Community representatives welcomed the initiative, highlighting its importance for accessibility and development. Peter Soma, a local landlord, expressed appreciation to both the county and state leadership for prioritising the project.
“We have struggled to access the current headquarters due to its location,” Soma said. “By providing this land, we are supporting the construction of government offices that are closer to the people. We are honoured to welcome the governor to officially open this land for development.”
Governor Adil praised the unity and cooperation demonstrated by local leaders and residents, noting that such collaboration is essential for advancing development across the state.
“I commend the county commissioner and the people of Kajo-Keji for their commitment to development,” Adil said. “As a government, we are ready to support rehabilitation and infrastructure projects that benefit our communities.”
The governor announced an immediate contribution of $10,000 to support the initial phase of construction, specifically to mobilise local youth in brick-laying activities for the new headquarters.
“We will begin with the construction of a modern structure, starting with a ground floor and an additional upper level,” he stated. “This contribution is to empower our youth to take part in building their county.”
Governor Adil further revealed that his administration plans to roll out similar unified county headquarters projects across all six counties of Central Equatoria State as part of a broader strategy to strengthen local governance.
The new Kajo-Keji County headquarters is expected to significantly improve service delivery while symbolising a shared commitment between government and community towards sustainable development.
