Every morning, I rise not because my pockets are full, but because my heart is tied to the future of the children I teach. My salary is modest, sometimes delayed and at times does not come at all. Yet I still find my way to the classroom, driven by a purpose far greater than money.
I may not wear the finest clothes. My shoes may be worn and my appearance may not shine like others. But none of this defines me. My true worth lies in the knowledge, love and values I pour into young hearts. Every lesson I teach, every word of encouragement I give, is a seed planted for tomorrow.
Many may overlook me or judge me for my humble circumstances, but I remain unmoved. My greatest reward is not the weight of a pay cheque. It is the success of my students. Each time one of them grows, excels, or rises above challenges, my soul rejoices in a way no money can ever buy.
Even if the world refuses to recognise my sacrifices, I will not abandon this calling. Teaching is not merely my profession. It is my passion, my sacrifice, and my legacy.
I owe much to Emmanuel Christian University for shaping me into the person I am today. I remember longing for scholarships, waiting and hoping, yet never seeing one come my way. I faced a choice to surrender or take a leap of faith. With courage and determination, I chose the latter, believing that with or without money, I would find my path in education. And here I am, having completed my journey, stronger and more grateful than I ever imagined.
I am deeply thankful to Professor Daniel Ohide, Vice-Chancellor of Emmanuel Christian University, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Academics, Rev. Lasuba Simon, Head of the Education Department, Mr. Lotiki A. Johnson, Student Chaplain, Maka Tabita Valantino, my teaching practice supervisors and all part time staff from international backgrounds. Your guidance, mentorship and encouragement have shaped me into who I am today.
To anyone walking a difficult path, sometimes, life demands a leap of faith. Sometimes, you must pursue your dreams even when the world seems silent. It is in those bold steps that miracles are born.
I am a teacher. I am struggling. But I am fulfilled. And I have made it, unbelievably, yet beautifully.
