Yei eductation stakeholders during the release of the results at the county head quarters
(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Yei Civil Society Forum has welcomed the county government’s decision to release the long-awaited 2025 Primary Eight Leaving Examination results.
Education authorities in Yei River County announced the results on Tuesday, revealing a strong overall performance, with a 94 percent pass rate.
The release follows mounting pressure from concerned members of the public and rights groups in the area. Activists had warned that the delay has affected the enrollment of Senior One students for the current academic term.
Modi Arkangelo, leader of the Civil Society Forum, praised the move:
“We appreciate the efforts of the county local government and the education department. This is a positive step—when citizens raise concerns and the government responds, it shows responsibility. It is the duty of the county government to ensure that examination results are released on time so that there is uniform admission of learners into schools.” he said
Arkangelo also called on the county education department and local authorities to improve the quality of education in the region.
“Before the outbreak of the 2016 conflict and COVID-19, Yei was known for providing quality education across the country. My appeal to the education department is to develop a plan to train more teachers, with support from education partners. There should also be timely payment of salaries and investment in infrastructure development.” Modi said
He further noted that many learning institutions are currently staffed by untrained teachers, which negatively affects the quality of education and student performance in both primary and secondary schools.
