(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The County Inspector for Secondary Schools in Yei River County has held a briefing for newly assigned invigilators ahead of the upcoming national examinations in South Sudan. The meeting took place at Kinji Secondary School on November twenty seven and brought together fifty one invigilators who will supervise the exams across the county.
During the session, the inspector, Sebit Alfred Faustino, explained the structure of the invigilation teams and the deployment plan. He said the total number of invigilators includes three chief invigilators and three assistant chief invigilators. Each participating school will receive 17 (seventeen) invigilators to ensure proper supervision of the examination process.
Out of the twelve secondary schools in Yei River County, eleven schools have been registered to take part in the national examinations. One of these will serve as an assessment centre. For easier coordination, the eleven schools have been grouped into three clusters, which will help with logistics, communication and supervision during the exam period.
Mr Faustino stressed that teamwork is essential. He said all invigilators must work together and treat every examination centre as their own school. Their duties will include monitoring students, checking for any unauthorised materials, offering necessary assistance, and working closely with the education department to ensure the process runs smoothly.
He also spoke about close cooperation between key departments, including the invigilators, the county education office and the security personnel. He said they must operate as one body to make sure that students can sit for their examinations in a peaceful environment and that no time is wasted during the process.
Looking back at the previous year, Mr Faustino acknowledged that there were challenges with delayed incentives. However, he noted that the invigilators still performed their duties well and that there has been progress since then. He confirmed that incentives will be paid once the assigned duties have been completed.
In his closing remarks, Mr Faustino encouraged the invigilators to pass on the key messages from the briefing to the students. He urged them to reassure learners and guide them so that they can sit for their examinations with confidence.
