A new Foundation stone at Morta Training site in Kajo-Keji County
(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has laid the foundation stone for the Morta School of Cadres Development and Moral Orientation in Liwolo Payam, Kajo-Keji County and pledged SSP 100 million to kickstart its construction.
The site of Morta holds historical significance as a former mobilization zone for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) during the liberation struggle, where many cadres were trained and later played key roles in the movement.
Speaking during the ceremony on Sunday, Governor Adil said the planned political training center will serve as a hub for imparting SPLM ideologies and values to party members across Kajo-Keji County and Central Equatoria State. He noted that the project marks the revival of Morta as a centre for political education and leadership development.
“As we lay this foundation, we are restoring Morta’s role in strengthening political awareness and advancing the party’s vision,” Adil said.
To support the initiative, the governor committed SSP 100 million towards the project’s initial phase and emphasised the SPLM policy of extending development to rural communities.
He commended the people of Liwolo Payam for their resilience and sacrifices during the liberation struggle, pledging to fast-track the project to ensure it benefits the community.
Local authorities, chiefs, elders, and political leaders welcomed the initiative and pledged their support towards its successful implementation.
The establishment of the school forms part of broader efforts to build capacity among SPLM members and promote grassroots political engagement.
The event was attended by senior government officials, SPLM members, local leaders, and residents, who described the project as a significant step towards political empowerment in the area.
