(Yei) – More than 1,000 children.under five years have been vaccinated against pneumonia infection in Yei River County recently . A health official said.
Sisto Angelo a health official at the national ministry of health said the pneumonia vaccines were administered to boast a child’s immune system and prevention against pheumonia viral attack.
He called on parents to bring their children for vaccination at any health vaccination centre.
The paramount chief of Yei River County Joseph Brown Lomosee advised health stakeholders to work closely with community leaders in raising health awareness so that both rural and urban dwellers are well informed about the importance of disease prevention and child protection.
” We encourage them to take rightful information to the citizens because many people are still ignorant about the Pneumonia vaccine” said Joseph Brown.
Lomose also called on the health officials to conduct mobile health outreach services to the people living in the rural areas.

Meanwhile Towongo Ronald a health administrator at Yei civil hospital expressed comitment to continue providing health services to children both in the urban and rural villages.
” Pneumonia is caused by viruses and it can be prevented by vaccination and vaccines are also good for young children until they become resistant to any disease attack more especially children from five years” he added.
He further applauded all the health partners for launching the vaccination campaign so that children are protected from pneumonia infection.
Jenty Monday, a mother of two years expressed happiness because her son received the vaccine doze.
” I am happy now because I brought my child for the vaccination exercise here at Yei civil hospital.”
