(JUBA) – Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, visited the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Juba on Sunday to worship with members and encourage collaboration in promoting peace and security across the State.
During the visit to the headquarters office at Rock City, Governor Mujung met representatives of Jehovah’s Witnesses led by spokesperson Alfred Faustino. He stressed the role of religious communities in promoting moral values and supporting government efforts to address insecurity, disunity and other challenges facing Central Equatoria.
Mujung stressed that insecurity must be transformed into security and disunity into unity. He called for collective action, urging religious leaders to engage their followers in initiatives that promote harmony and discourage criminal activity.
He specifically condemned the recent rise in gang violence by local criminal groups, known locally as niggas and torontos, and called for community led solutions to curb these threats.
He also appealed to holdout groups to participate in the ongoing peace process, citing how unity during the referendum played a crucial role in South Sudan achieving independence.
“It is time for us to forget the past, whether politically, socially, or religiously and to forge a new page,” Governor Mujung said.
Alfred Faustino commended the Governor for his leadership and efforts to advance peace and development in the State. He described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen mutual respect and understanding between Jehovah’s Witnesses and the government.
