( KAJO KEJI COUNTY) – A civic engagement activity focusing on electoral dispute resolution was held in Kajokeji County on 23rd January 2026, with support from the European Union.
The activity was organised by the Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation (CEPO) in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. It aimed to improve public understanding of how election related disputes can be addressed through peaceful and lawful means.
According to the organisers, the Kajo Keji forum marked the 11th such activity conducted by CEPO across South Sudan. The organisation said the series reflects growing public interest in the country’s planned national elections, scheduled for December this year.
CEPO noted that in all locations visited, citizens have shown strong interest in participating in the electoral process and in having a voice in shaping the future of South Sudan through voting.
The organisation said discussions in Kajokeji focused on the importance of dialogue, community participation and peaceful engagement during elections. Participants were encouraged to resolve disagreements without violence and to rely on legal and institutional mechanisms.
The Kajokeji activity follows similar initiatives carried out by CEPO in other parts of Central Equatoria State. On 19th December 2025, Access Radio reported that CEPO conducted a three day training in Yei River County aimed at promoting peaceful elections ahead of the planned general elections in December 2026.
That earlier training brought together local stakeholders in Yei town to discuss ways of managing electoral disputes peacefully. CEPO said the sessions focused on building understanding, dialogue and cooperation among those involved in the electoral process, while helping participants identify early signs of tension and address them before they escalate.
CEPO said it plans to continue civic engagement activities across South Sudan to support peaceful participation in the upcoming elections and to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
