(JUBA COUNTY) – Members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement from Central Equatoria State have gathered in Juba for a three day meeting aimed at preparing the party for the general elections scheduled for 22 December 2026.
The meeting is being held at the Golden Orchid Events Center and brings together SPLM cadres from across the state. Delegates attending the conference represent all six counties of Central Equatoria State as well as the Administrative Payam of Wonduruba.
The gathering serves as a preparatory conference for the party at state level as it begins organising structures and mobilising members ahead of the nationwide elections.
A delegation from Morobo County is among those attending the meeting. The team is led by the county commissioner, Charles Data Bullen, and includes several county party members who travelled to Juba to take part in the discussions.
The conference was organised by the Central Equatoria State SPLM Party Secretariat under the leadership of the State Party Chairman, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, who also serves as Governor of Central Equatoria State.
The opening session was attended by senior party leaders including the First Deputy Chairperson of the SPLM, Dr James Wani Igga, and the Second Deputy Chairperson, Mary Apai.
During the opening remarks, Dr Wani Igga commended the Central Equatoria SPLM leadership for organising the meeting and encouraged other states to follow a similar approach as the party prepares for the national elections.
Discussions during the conference have included presentations on party organisation, mobilisation and preparations for the upcoming vote.
Speaking at the end of the second day of the meeting, Morobo County Commissioner Charles Data Bullen said the conference would help strengthen party activities in the county.
He said the presentations delivered during the sessions provide guidance for training new party members and improving organisation at county level.
The commissioner also said Morobo County remains committed to supporting party programmes aimed at improving political organisation, encouraging civic participation and preparing members for the forthcoming elections in South Sudan.
