
Adil and Lawmakers Discuss State Security/PHOTO CREDITS: CESGPU
(JUBA) – Members of the South Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) parliamentary group from Central Equatoria State have held a formal meeting with Governor Emmanuel Adil to discuss urgent problems facing their local areas.
The group of national legislators met the Governor in the capital on Monday to talk about various factors that are currently stopping growth and development in the region.
The delegation was led by Honourable Dusman Joyce and focused on several key issues during the discussion. These included the illegal taking of land and the ongoing problems caused by cattle herders moving through the state.
The lawmakers also reported that illegal checkpoints are still being used on roads and that some parts of the state still have armed opposition forces living there.
Governor Adil thanked the members of the national assembly for bringing these issues to his attention. He promised that the state government would work together with the lawmakers to find ways to solve these challenges. The Governor said that cooperation is necessary to move the state forward and improve the lives of the people living there.
During the meeting the Governor also spoke about the need to prepare for the upcoming national elections. scheduled for December 2026.
He asked the members of parliament to start talking to their communities and to encourage people to get ready for the vote. He also urged the legislators to talk to any remaining armed groups and persuade them to choose peace instead of conflict.
According to a statement released by the state press unit CESGPU through the Office of the Governor, the meeting between the state leader and the national representatives is an important step toward bringing peace and stability to Central Equatoria.
The Governor concluded by saying that only by working together can the leaders ensure that the people in the villages and towns see real development and an end to the problems that have been mentioned.
