(JUBA COUNTY) – Leaders from the Tijor community have called for better mobile phone networks and access to clean water during a meeting with the Governor of Central Equatoria State.
A delegation from the community met Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Monday in the capital city. The visit was arranged to welcome the Governor back to his position and to discuss the urgent needs of the people living in Tijor.
The community leaders said that while they support the current leadership, they want to see improvements in how services are delivered to their local area.
During the discussions the representatives mentioned that the lack of a reliable phone network is a major problem for the area. They also explained that many people in the community still struggle to find safe and clean water. The leaders asked the state government to make these two issues a priority in their development plans for the coming year.
Governor Adil thanked the Tijor community for their support and for their commitment to keeping the state secure. He told the delegation that his administration is focused on making the state stable and ensuring that basic services reach every village. He said that providing security and helping people get what they need are the most important parts of his work.
The Governor also used the meeting to talk about the upcoming national elections. He asked the community leaders to talk to their people about the importance of the vote. He said that the elections are a way for citizens to have the power to choose their own leaders. He urged the community to stay united and to work with the government to keep peace and harmony in Central Equatoria.
The meeting ended with a promise from the Governor to look into the specific problems raised by the Tijor people.
According to the State Press Unit CESGPU, the engagement is part of a wider effort by the state government to talk directly with local communities to find solutions for the challenges they face at the grassroots level.
