(JUBA) – The Yangwara-Pojulu-Tijor Community in Juba County held a Thanksgiving Prayer on Saturday to honour the recent appointment of Lieutenant General Rabi Mujung Emmanuel as the Governor of Central Equatoria State.
The event also served as an expression of support for his leadership and appreciation to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for the appointment.
Governor Mujung is the first person from the Yangwara-Pojulu-Tijor community to hold the governorship of Central Equatoria. The Thanksgiving ceremony was hosted at his residence in Juba and drew participation from youth groups, women, religious leaders, children, traditional chiefs, lawmakers, intellectuals and constitutional postholders from the community.
In his remarks, Governor Mujung thanked the community for its support and used the occasion to encourage unity and cooperation. He repeated President Kiir’s national appeal for peace and togetherness by stating, “Unity at home is our strength. We can unite other communities. Stand by me, and let’s make history together.”
The Governor reaffirmed his core priorities of peace, unity and security, noting that progress in service delivery can only be achieved through collective effort.
“I welcome all local and homegrown initiatives aimed at restoring peace and security. As Government, we will strive to deliver services to meet your needs, but this can only be achieved through unity,” he added.
Honourable Salah Bunduki, the State Minister of Finance and Planning and Chairman of the Yangwara-Pojulu-Tijor Community, echoed the call for unity and pledged full support for Governor Mujung’s administration. He expressed gratitude to the President for selecting a leader from the Yangwara community and warned against internal division.
“For long, the Yangwara have prayed for one of their sons to lead. Today, God answered and gave us our humble son, Rabi. He is not just for us. He will serve all tribes in Central Equatoria State. Let’s support him unconditionally,” Hon Bunduki said.
The Commissioner of Juba County, Hon Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, said he had confidence in the Governor’s ability to maintain peace and promote social cohesion in the state. His remarks were backed by local chief Roman Ladu, who called on the Governor to work with traditional leaders to better understand the needs at the grassroots level.

A detailed statement read by the community’s Secretary General, Yapete Mogga, outlined several development concerns and proposals. Among the key issues raised were poor road infrastructure, lack of access to clean water, weak educational facilities and insufficient health services.
The community called for the construction and rehabilitation of schools, boreholes for clean drinking water and the upgrading of the Rokon Primary Health Centre into a full hospital.
