
Rehabilitated Government House for Yei Commissioner/Handout
(YEI COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon. Emmanuel Taban Seme, has officially relocated to a newly renovated government residence in Yei town. The relocation was marked by a brief ceremony attended by county department heads, religious leaders and local officials.
The new residence was previously used as a Payam administrative office, and is situated adjacent to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Secretariat. The building has now been rehabilitated and officially designated as the commissioner’s official residence.
Speaking at the handover, Commissioner Taban stated that the property now belongs to the government and will serve as the official residence for current and future commissioners of Yei River County.
He commended the renovation team and expressed appreciation for the support shown by colleagues and local leaders during the transition.
The commissioner noted that the renovation of the residence is part of a broader effort to improve county infrastructure and services. He highlighted other ongoing development projects in the county, including the rehabilitation of bridges, support for sports, reshuffling of Payam directors to improve service delivery and collaboration with development partners on education initiatives.
Hon. Taban also pointed out that the county is prioritising peacebuilding, security and the enforcement of local administrative orders as part of a wider effort to strengthen local governance and stability.
No specific amount was mentioned for the cost of the renovation.
