(JUBA / YEI / TEREKEKA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has dispatched two high-level security delegations to Yei and Terekeka counties to address escalating communal tensions and enforce the return of cattle to their places of origin.
The first delegation, led by Deputy Governor Hon. Paulino Lukudu Obede, has been deployed to Terekeka County. The team is tasked with mediating and resolving communal disputes involving the Kogi and Yari communities.
At the same time, a second team headed by State Security Advisor Hon. Angelo Daya has been sent to the Greater Yei Area to implement the Presidential Order directing cattle herders to return to their places of origin. The directive aims to prevent further farmer-herder conflicts that have heightened tensions in the region.
Both delegations officially departed on Wednesday in accordance with directives from the state leadership and are expected to immediately begin executing their mandates.
Cattle Raids Reported in Yei
In Yei River County, more than 200 cattle including cows, goats, and sheep have reportedly been raided in remote villages over the past week. The incidents have intensified concerns over insecurity and communal instability in the area.
Community leaders, civil society representatives, religious leaders, and residents have repeatedly urged both state and national governments to urgently address the ongoing cattle crisis in Yei River County and across Central Equatoria State.
Authorities hope the newly dispatched security teams will help restore calm, facilitate dialogue, and ensure compliance with the presidential directive to reduce further conflict.
