(MOROBO COUNTY, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – Arsenal supporters in Morobo County have been urged to use their fan activities as a platform to promote peace, unity and community development within the area.
Speaking during a gathering of local Arsenal supporters on Saturday, Morobo County Commissioner Joseph Mawa Okuba called on the association and other football fan groups to work together in fostering harmony and strengthening social cohesion across communities.
He commended the supporters for celebrating their team’s 2026 Premier League victory in a responsible and constructive manner, highlighting their commitment to community service.
“Your decision to clean the hospital surroundings and plant trees is not only an act of goodwill, but also a commitment to creating a healthier and more conducive environment for the people of Morobo,” Okuba said.
The Commissioner emphasised that football activities should go beyond entertainment and serve as a catalyst for positive social change, development and hope.
“Let us remember that Morobo deserves a peaceful, clean and green environment where every citizen can live in dignity,” he added.
As part of their celebrations, the fan group undertook several community initiatives, including tree planting at the local hospital to promote environmental conservation. The supporters also extended assistance to a vulnerable elderly woman by repairing her house, demonstrating their commitment to improving community wellbeing.
Local authorities have welcomed such initiatives, noting that sports can play a vital role in uniting communities and supporting development efforts in the county.
