(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – At least twenty executive and senior program leaders from selected national and international humanitarian, development, and civil society organizations are participating in a two-day conflict sensitivity training in Yei Town.
The training, organized by the Center for Inclusive Governance Peace and Justice, aims to equip participants with knowledge and skills to identify and mitigate conflict-related risks that may arise from organizational programs and interventions at the local level.
Modi Arkangelo, Program Field Officer at the Center for Inclusive Governance Peace and Justice-Yei-Sub office, said the training will help organizations design and implement activities in ways that avoid causing harm within communities.
“The purpose of the training is directed to the executive directors to analyze the context of what they are doing in the community, how their interventions interact with the context of the community, and it also helps them to analyze conflict-sensitive responses when implementing activities. We want organizations to apply a conflict-sensitivity lens and examine the impact of program interventions which can either create positive or negative outcomes as a result of their activity implementation in the communities.”
According to Modi, similar trainings will also be organized for middle-level and field-based humanitarian workers, civil society actors, and peacebuilding partners across the county.
The initiative is expected to strengthen collaboration among organizations and ensure development and humanitarian programs contribute to peace and stability in local communities.
