(LAINYA COUNTY, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – The Commissioner of Lainya County, Robert Lasu John Morris, has witnessed the election of the Mukaya Payam Youth Chairperson in Mukaya, in an exercise aimed at strengthening youth leadership and community participation.
The election, held on Monday, was conducted in a free and transparent manner, according to county officials and observers.
Local authorities said the process followed agreed procedures and reflected the commitment of young people to peaceful and democratic leadership.
The event was attended by the county security coordinator, senior government officials, and the County Youth Chairperson.
Officials present praised the youth for maintaining order and discipline throughout the voting process.
Commissioner Morris welcomed the conduct of the election and commended organisers and participants for ensuring fairness.
He urged the newly elected youth leader to focus on youth empowerment, skills development, and community service.
He also encouraged young people in Mukaya Payam to continue participating in local governance and development activities.
County authorities said strong youth leadership structures are important for promoting stability and social cohesion in Lainya County.
They added that the county administration will continue to support youth programmes and inclusive participation across Central Equatoria State.
