(JUBA) – Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has called on leaders of the Juba Diocese and the Moru congregation to begin talks quickly to resolve their dispute. He said open dialogue is the best way to restore unity within the church community.
The Governor met representatives of the Moru congregation at the State Government Secretariat in Juba on Monday. During the meeting, he asked both sides to show respect for the law while seeking a fair solution to their disagreement.
He also ordered the reopening of churches that were recently shut due to the ongoing conflict. He noted that the Christmas season is an important time for worship and for sharing messages of peace, especially at a time when many families are celebrating together.
Church leaders who attended the meeting welcomed the Governor’s request for dialogue. They said they are ready to hold talks to find common ground without bias. They added that their mission is to continue preaching the gospel and serving the people, regardless of the current challenges.
Community members hope that the discussions will lead to a peaceful settlement. Many believe that improved cooperation between the Juba Diocese and the Moru congregation will help maintain stability in the city and support the wider efforts to promote peace across South Sudan.
Below is a simple outline of the main points raised:
