(JUBA/YAMBIO) – The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Barrister James Al Taib Berapai, has visited Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony in Juba. The visit was aimed at improving cooperation between the two neighbouring states.
Governor Al Taib congratulated Governor Adil for earning the continued trust of President Salva Kiir. The two leaders discussed ways to promote unity, peace and development that can benefit people across both states.
They also spoke about preparations for next year’s elections. Both governors said mobilisation for peace will be important as the country moves closer to the vote. They agreed that peace and security remain the main foundations for a better and stable society.
The leaders said improved security would allow citizens to take part in farming and development activities without fear. They also promised continued cooperation for the good of the country.

In a related event at the State Government Secretariat, the Central Equatoria State Security Committee approved a new structure for its membership. The committee will now have 15 members instead of more than 15 previously. Governor Adil, who chairs the committee, led the decision during an extra ordinary meeting.
The committee also agreed to continue holding its ordinary meetings every Tuesday. These meetings will focus on security matters in Central Equatoria State. The committee provides weekly reports and works on solutions to protect people and their properties.
Officials say the revised structure will help the committee operate more effectively and respond faster to concerns raised by communities.
