(JUBA COUNTY) – Five individuals have been arrested in Dijori Boma of Luri Payam, Juba County, following reports from local residents about the illegal opening of roads and unlawful demarcation of land.
The arrests followed complaints from members of the community who alerted authorities to unauthorised activities related to land allocation and boundary marking, which violate existing government directives.
In response to the reports, the Commissioner of Juba County, accompanied by security personnel, travelled to the area to assess the situation and ensure that the law was enforced.
County authorities said the suspects were involved in planning, demarcating, and allocating land without approval from relevant offices.
The Juba County Authority issued a strong warning to individuals and groups engaged in illegal land activities, stating that such practices would not be tolerated.
Officials said the operation forms part of the implementation of a ministerial order issued by the Minister of Housing, Land and Public Utilities, which bans all new planning and demarcation of plots in six counties and Wonduruba Administrative Payam of Central Equatoria State.
The order was introduced to address rising disputes over land ownership and to improve urban planning and land management.
County officials reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting public land, and promoting orderly development across Juba County.
They urged residents to report any suspicious or unauthorised land activities to local authorities to support efforts to maintain peace and transparency in land administration.
The Office of the Commissioner said it will continue working with security organs and community leaders to prevent illegal land practices and to ensure that government policies are respected.
