(OPINION/Franko Lokunyume) – Good morning to the people of Central Equatoria State.
My heart was filled with joy when I saw the videos and photos from the recent Mundari Cultural Festival. It was a powerful display of unity. I offer my congratulations to the leaders of Terekeka and Central Equatoria State; you have made us all proud.
However, I must speak honestly. Do you know why travelling to Terekeka for the festival was so easy? It is simply because the road is good.
Roads are life. In every state, infrastructure is the foundation of development. A growing state must prioritise its road networks because, without them, services cannot reach the people, and the people cannot reach services.
I recently travelled the Kaya-Morobo-Yei-Lanya route and visited Kajo-Keji. The state of the roads there is heartbreaking. Their poor condition is severely affecting our daily lives.
To the government of South Sudan and Central Equatoria State: we are not asking for miracles today. We are only asking for murram roads. This is our humble request.
As you know, Greater Yei is a land of farmers. Please help us by improving these roads so our people can go about their daily work.
Vast amounts of organic food are failing to reach the city simply because there are no proper roads. Imagine the prosperity, business, and development we would see if Kajo-Keji had good roads and if the Juba-Kaya road were fully repaired.
Please, leaders, hear our cry. We are not asking for much; we only ask for roads. If this work is done, the results will speak for themselves. Furthermore, as we approach elections, good roads are essential to ensure the smooth movement of all citizens.
Thank you, and please forgive me if I have caused any offence. I ask you all to help share this plea.
Ti toliba na jur Lima to wuti ngero.
