(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A total of 1,733 candidates passed the 2025 Primary Eight examinations in Yei River County, giving an overall pass rate of 94 percent.
The results were released on 21 April 2026, showing steady progress in primary education across the county despite difficult learning conditions.
Out of the 1,834 candidates who sat the exams, 976 were boys and 858 were girls. Education officials described the performance as encouraging for the sector and for families who have waited anxiously for the outcome. T
he pass rate signals that more children in the county are staying in school and achieving results that open the door to secondary education.
The Director of Education in Yei River County, Philip Taban, said the results mark an important step for pupils moving from primary to secondary level.
He said the success reflects the combined work of learners, teachers, parents and education partners pushing to raise standards. His office remains committed to improving conditions in schools across the county, he added.
The announcement was made by the Executive Director of Yei River County on behalf of the County Commissioner, who is in Juba on official duties.
Officials said the performance shows that access to basic education continues to grow, though limited infrastructure and a shortage of learning materials remain serious hurdles.
County authorities called on successful candidates to stay focused as they prepare to join secondary schools.
They urged parents, community leaders and education partners to keep supporting children through school, noting that continued investment in learning is vital for a stable and productive future in South Sudan.
