(JUBA) – The Archbishop of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of South Sudan and Uganda has congratulated Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil on his reappointment, offering the church’s continued support for peace and unity efforts across the State.
Archbishop Elias Taban Parangi, who also serves as the Regional President for the Association of Evangelicals in Africa for the North East Africa region, met the Governor in Juba on Tuesday. He said the church remains committed to working with the State Government to promote peace, forgiveness and development in communities across Central Equatoria.
Governor Adil welcomed the Archbishop’s message, praising him for his long involvement in national peace initiatives. He said the State Government values the role of faith leaders in easing tensions and strengthening social cohesion.
He urged church leaders to continue speaking to armed groups that remain outside peace efforts, saying they should lay down their weapons and take part in dialogue. He added that peace is the only route to development and stability.
According to the State Press Unit CESGPU, the meeting ended with both sides expressing a shared desire to support reconciliation and progress in Central Equatoria, especially at a time when community level tensions continue in some areas.
