(JUBA COUNTY) – Members of Parliament from Lainya County in Central Equatoria State have held a meeting with Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel to present key concerns affecting their communities, especially issues related to insecurity, social services and development.
The meeting took place in Juba on Wednesday, and was described as cordial and constructive.
The lawmakers, led by Hon. Awate Esther, Chairperson of the Lainya Parliamentary Caucus in the Central Equatoria State Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly, used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Mujung for his leadership. They also submitted a list of the most pressing challenges facing Lainya County.
Among the issues highlighted were insecurity linked to holdout armed groups still operating in the region, weak healthcare infrastructure, poor education services and violent incidents involving armed cattle herders reportedly coming from Bor and Terekeka. The MPs said these threats have disrupted farming activities and displaced several families.
Governor Mujung thanked the MPs for their visit and described their engagement as a sign of responsible leadership. He stressed that peace and development can only be achieved through unity and collective action between the government branches and local communities.
“The unity of our people is crucial in restoring peace. Only through collective efforts can we bring about stability and progress,” said Governor Mujung during the meeting.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to responding to the concerns raised and encouraged regular consultation between the state executive and lawmakers to ensure coordination in the delivery of services.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hon. Awate expressed optimism and thanked the Governor for listening to the MPs’ concerns. She highlighted that the caucus specifically requested an ambulance for Lainya County, in addition to discussing long term strategies for reviving the county’s former status as a productive agricultural area.
“We raised concerns over insecurity which has displaced many and disrupted agriculture. We also requested an ambulance for the county and explored ways to restore Lainya’s past glory. We believe better days are ahead for our people,” Hon. Awate said.
According to Hon. Awate, the group also pledged continued support to the Governor and urged the state leadership to work closely with local communities to ensure inclusive development.
The MPs said they remain committed to engaging both national and state level institutions to find lasting solutions to challenges affecting the people of Lainya.
