(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has expressed support for the resumption of parliamentary sittings, saying lawmakers will soon reconvene to address key issues affecting the state.
The assurance was given during a meeting in Juba on Monday, December 15, 2025, when a delegation from the Juba County Parliamentary Caucus paid a courtesy visit to the governor to congratulate him on his reappointment and raise concerns from their constituencies.
During the meeting, the lawmakers highlighted a number of challenges facing communities in Juba County, including cases of land grabbing, child abduction, and insecurity in some areas.
They also raised concerns about the poor condition of some health facilities and road networks, calling for rehabilitation and renovation to improve service delivery.
The members of parliament further urged the governor to reopen the state legislative assembly, saying this would allow elected representatives to debate and address pressing issues affecting Central Equatoria State in an effective and organised manner.
Governor Adil thanked the delegation for the visit and acknowledged the concerns raised by the legislators. He assured them that his administration remains committed to addressing the challenges affecting residents across the state.
He affirmed his support for the return of parliamentary sittings and encouraged the legislators to continue speaking on behalf of their constituents. The governor also urged them to promote peace, unity and development within their communities.
According to the governor, improving security remains a priority for his administration. He said efforts are being made to stabilise the security situation to allow residents to resume agricultural activities and support local livelihoods.
In related political engagements, Governor Adil also held a meeting with the Second Deputy Chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, Mary Apayi Ayiga, at the SPLM National Secretariat in Juba on the same day.
Ms Apayi met the governor to congratulate him on his reappointment as Central Equatoria State Governor and as the party’s designated state chairperson. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the party’s vision and mission ahead of the upcoming elections.
Their discussions also focused on the need to mobilise greater support for veteran members of the party at the state level, recognising their role and contribution over the years.
The meeting concluded with both leaders pledging mutual cooperation and commitment to advancing the goals of the party and supporting unity and stability in Central Equatoria State.
A statement from the office of the state governor stated the engagements reflect ongoing efforts by the state leadership to restore legislative functions, address community concerns and strengthen political coordination as South Sudan prepares for the next phase of its political process.

This is great news. Parliament is critical to deliberate on issues and pass laws and decisions for the betterment of citizens, business communities and development partners living and operating in CES. Furthermore as South Sudan prepares for elections Parliament should be fully operational. Blessings. Amb. BK Wani
