(YEI COUNTY) – The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) at Nimule has rejected six trucks of maize between 26 November and 8 December 2025. Four of the trucks carried maize grain, while two transported maize flour. The consignments were blocked because they did not meet the country’s national standards for quality and safety.
SSNBS officials said, “We remain committed to protecting consumers by ensuring that only safe and quality products enter South Sudan. Any goods that fail to meet standards will be rejected.”
The Bureau urged the public to be alert and report any suspected smuggled or substandard goods. “Consumer safety is our priority. Everyone has a role in reporting unsafe products,” the officials added.
The following table summarises the rejected consignments:
| Product | Number of Trucks | Reason for Rejection |
|---|---|---|
| Maize grain | 4 | Did not meet national standards |
| Maize flour | 2 | Did not meet national standards |
