Free Vocational Courses Open in Juba
(JUBA) – A new free technical skills training programme has been announced in Juba, offering young people and other interested applicants an opportunity to gain practical skills that can support employment and self reliance in South Sudan.
The Juba Multi Service Training Centre has invited applications for free three month technical training courses scheduled to run from January to April 2026. The programme is open to youth and adults who want to develop hands on skills linked to everyday economic activities.
Officials said the training is funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the United Nations Development Programme. The programme is being implemented by Hope Africa South Sudan in partnership with the Juba Multi Service Training Centre, with support from the Ministry of Labour.
According to the organisers, the courses are designed to respond to skills gaps in the local market and to help participants earn a living after completing the training. The focus is on practical learning that can be used immediately in small businesses, informal work, or paid employment.
The training will cover a wide range of trades, including renewable energy, construction related skills, mechanical work, personal services, food production and agriculture value addition. These areas are seen as important for local economic growth and job creation in South Sudan.
Application forms are available free of charge and can be collected from the Juba Multi Service Training Centre offices located behind Juba Football Stadium. Forms are also available at the Hope Africa South Sudan office near Mauna Medical Complex in Hai Mauna. Organisers confirmed that no fees are required at any stage of the application process.
The deadline for submitting applications is two weeks from the date of the announcement. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as the number of training places is limited.
The Ministry of Labour said skills training remains a priority as South Sudan faces high youth unemployment and limited formal job opportunities. Officials noted that vocational skills can help young people become self employed and reduce pressure on the public sector.
The Director of the Multi Service Training Centre, Martin Lugala Tumba, said the programme will be delivered at the centre in Juba and will combine classroom learning with practical sessions to ensure trainees gain real experience.
