(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A tragic plane crash in Luri on April 27 has claimed the lives of fourteen people, prompting an outpouring of grief across communities and the nation. In response to the devastating incident, the Episcopal Diocese of Yei has released an official message of condolence, expressing deep sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families.
In a statement issued by Bishop Rt. Rev. Levi Marandulu Yepete, the Diocese acknowledged the profound loss and described the crash as a heartbreaking event that has affected not only the families of the victims but also the wider community.
The Diocese emphasized unity and compassion during this difficult time, calling on communities to support one another and uphold the affected families in thought and prayer. It also offered prayers for comfort and strength, asking that God grant peace to those mourning and eternal rest to the departed.
“We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families, relatives, and friends of those who have lost their lives,” the statement read. “No words can adequately convey the depth of sympathy felt at this moment, nor can they fully ease the pain of such a sudden and tragic loss.”
“We stand in solidarity with all who are grieving and share in your sorrow,” the message continued. “It is our prayer that Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, will grant you comfort, strengthen you, and surround you with His peace.”
The statement concluded with a biblical verse from Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The Diocese’s message reflects the widespread mourning following the crash, as investigations and further details about the incident are awaited.
