(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The body of the late Senior Protocol Officer, Amos Juma Clement, was laid to rest at his family home in Lizira residential area of Yei River County on 10 January 2026, as family members, community leaders and government officials gathered to pay their final respects.
The Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon. Emmanuel Taban Seme, joined other senior government officials and local residents at the burial ceremony, which took place during the evening hours. The event drew a large number of mourners, reflecting the respect held for the late official and his service to the county.
Speaking to the family, Commissioner Emmanuel offered words of comfort and called for calm during the period of mourning. He said that while the loss was painful and irreversible, prayers were needed to seek God’s protection and guidance for the family. He added that the county government had pledged to support the children of the late Amos Juma Clement as part of its commitment to stand with the bereaved family.
During his address, the commissioner also spoke to young people in attendance, urging them to stay away from criminal activities and the use of harmful drugs. He warned that such behaviour could destroy lives and bring suffering to families and the wider community in Yei River County and beyond.
In his concluding remarks, Commissioner Emmanuel called on citizens to address family and personal issues early, rather than allowing problems to grow until they surface during times of tragedy such as funerals. He encouraged open dialogue and responsibility within families as a way to strengthen social harmony in the county.
The burial ceremony ended with prayers and messages of solidarity from community members, as Yei River County mourned the loss of a senior public servant and reflected on broader social responsibilities.
