(YEI RIVER COUNTY) — KONETA Hub, a national humanitarian and development non-governmental organization operating in Yei River County, has launched an initiative to support rural women in Ronyi Boma, Yei Payam, through vegetable production.
In a statement released on Monday, the organization announced that it has begun distributing vegetable seeds and providing agricultural extension services to women in the area. The initiative aims to promote sustainable, community-owned production of nutritious vegetables as a way to combat malnutrition, particularly among children and breastfeeding mothers.
“With determination and hope, they are preparing the foundation for healthy vegetable production that will contribute to food security, better nutrition, and increased income for their families and community,” the statement said.
KONETA Hub emphasized that every seed planted represents progress toward a greener, healthier, and more resilient future for the community.
“On June 15, 2026, women in Ronyi took a significant step by establishing vegetable nursery beds, marking the beginning of efforts to improve household nutrition and livelihoods” The statement partly reads
The organization noted that the activity was driven by local mothers committed to enhancing their families’ well-being.
The project, which is supported by UNICEF South Sudan, also includes supplementary feeding programs targeting children under the age of two, further addressing the challenge of malnutrition in the area.
KONETA Hub says the initiative is part of its broader commitment to strengthening food security and empowering rural communities across Yei River County.
