(JUBA) – Three South Sudanese education professionals have been selected to take part in an international training programme in India aimed at strengthening institutional planning and leadership in the education sector.
The participants are Charles Michael Machiek Raw, Alfred Angasi Dominic Oliha and Joice Chandia Mathew Lubayi. They will attend the International Programme on Institutional Planning for Heads of Educational Institutions at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration in New Delhi.
The programme will take place from 5 January to 16 January 2026 and is fully funded by the Government of India through the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation initiative. The support covers training costs and related expenses, ensuring full participation by the selected South Sudanese professionals.
Indian Embassy officials said the training will focus on improving planning, management and leadership skills for heads of educational institutions.
The knowledge gained is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen South Sudan’s education system, which continues to face challenges linked to years of conflict and limited resources.
The Embassy of India in Juba said the programme reflects India’s continued commitment to supporting South Sudan’s nation building through capacity building and skills development. It added that education remains a key area of cooperation between the two countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan welcomed the selection of the participants and noted that international training opportunities help build local expertise needed for effective public service delivery. Officials said such programmes support the development of strong institutions, which are essential for long term stability and growth.
South Sudan and India have maintained cooperation in areas such as education, health and technical training since South Sudan gained independence. Capacity building programmes under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation initiative have benefited several South Sudanese professionals in recent years.
The selected participants are expected to return to South Sudan after the programme and apply their new skills within the education sector. Officials expressed hope that the training will contribute to better planning and management in schools and other educational institutions across the country.
