(KAJO KEJI COUNTY) – The Kajo Keji Expo 2025 brought together residents, leaders and artists in a major cultural gathering that showcased peace, unity and shared identity in one of South Sudan’s border communities. The event was widely viewed as more than a public exhibition, serving as a symbol of reconciliation, resilience and a collective desire to rebuild after years of hardship.
Community members described the Expo as a renewed call for unity among the people of Kajo Keji, including those living outside the county. It promoted confidence in returning home and encouraged joint efforts towards recovery and development. The focus on culture and social cohesion reflected broader national conversations in South Sudan on peace building and community led recovery.
The initiative was led by Joseph Wole Lotua, Jame Lo Ngete and Moses Misuk, whose coordination and leadership created a platform for dialogue and cultural expression. Organisers said their aim was to strengthen social bonds, pass values across generations and restore confidence in local communities. Many participants noted that such initiatives help reinforce peace at the grassroots level.
Music and performance played a central role in the Expo. Well known regional artists Lasu Emma, Franko Lokunyumi and Suzy Nadu headlined the event, drawing large crowds and adding to the cultural importance of the occasion. Their performances were received as a celebration of shared heritage rather than entertainment alone.
Local artists were also prominently featured, reflecting the strong creative identity of Kajo Keji County. Performers included Young 40 de Twitter, Dubai Boy, Ak Yankee, Big Trail, Ak 16 de Son and BroLenz, among others. Their participation highlighted the depth of local talent and the role of youth in shaping South Sudan’s cultural future.
