Governor Orders Immediate Halt to Illegal Plot Allocations on Juba Roads
(JUBA) – The Office of the Governor of Central Equatoria State has issued a directive halting all ongoing developments on two specific roads in Juba, following reports of illegal residential plot demarcations.
According to the statement released on 7 July 2025 by the State Press Secretary, unauthorised demarcation and allocation of plots have been taking place on these roads, with individuals reportedly claiming sections for private use.
The affected locations include road 40, also known as Sharia Arrbeyin, which stretches from east to west through the Jopa residential area. This road connects Blocks 3, 4, 6 and 7 to the Gurei neighbourhood.
The second area under scrutiny lies in Gudele West, specifically the road situated behind the Kuburi Haboba (bridge), which also runs east to west towards the Mary Queen Church.
The Office of the Governor has made it clear that these areas have not been approved or sanctioned for residential plot allocation. The roads are designated for public infrastructure and transportation purposes and are to remain so.
Governor H.E. Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel has formally instructed the Commissioner of Juba County to stop any demarcation or construction activities in the affected areas with immediate effect.
This directive is to remain in place until further notice.
The public has been urged to respect this directive. Any individual affected by the halt in development is advised to report to the Commissioner of Juba County for guidance and clarification.
The governor’s office has stressed the importance of preserving public roads for their intended use to support urban functionality and the well being of the community.
The letter, signed by Press Secretary Waakhe Simon Wudu, was also copied to the Secretary General of Central Equatoria State and the Commissioner of Juba County.
