(Aweil) – The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State (NBGS), Simon Uber Mawutdit, has inspected the ongoing construction of a perimeter wall around the Aweil Radio and Television Station.
The project is being funded by the state government as part of a wider commitment to development and security in the region.
Governor Mawutdit is the first state leader in Northern Bahr el Ghazal to initiate such a project at the state media station.
The construction of the perimeter wall is intended to improve the safety and functionality of the station, which serves as an essential platform for public communication in the state.
According to local officials, the government has approved a budget of 50 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), equivalent to approximately USD 38,500 at current exchange rates, to finance the construction.
This project is one of several initiatives Governor Mawutdit pledged to undertake during his swearing-in ceremony, which was held in Juba.
At the time, he promised to focus on four key areas namely security, development, service delivery and food security.
His administration says the progress being made on the ground demonstrates his commitment to fulfilling these promises.
State residents have welcomed the project, describing it as a positive sign of the government’s seriousness in delivering on its pledges.
It was not mad clear when the construction project is expected to be completed.
