(JUBA) – U.S. Embassy Suspends Routine Updates Amid Budget Lapse
The U.S. Embassy in Juba has announced that its social media accounts will not be updated regularly due to a lapse in federal appropriations. The embassy said updates will only be made for urgent safety or security information until normal operations resume.
Despite the funding pause, the embassy confirmed that scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at U.S. embassies and consulates overseas will continue wherever possible. Residents are advised to check the official website at travel.state.gov for the latest information on services and operating status.
Officials stressed that while routine communications are paused, essential services will remain available to ensure that U.S. citizens and visa applicants can access critical support. The embassy urged people to remain vigilant and to follow security updates carefully during this period.
The funding lapse reflects temporary interruptions in U.S. federal government appropriations and does not affect emergency consular assistance or critical safety operations in South Sudan.
